How Technology has Improved the Learning Experience for Students Today

Technology has revolutionized the overall learning experience of a student. It has broken down the traditional teaching styles and created a friendly environment for the students. Every student has a different level of learning capacity and enthusiasm. In a class of more than fifty students, it is not possible for a teacher to give individual attention to all the students. So if a particular student is not able to catch up things like the other students, he will lag behind in the class. Internet and technology have been able to bridge these gaps between student and teachers.

There are a number of ways to impart education in a modern way. PowerPoint presentations, smart boards, online blogs, DVDs, digital imaging and websites help students to comprehend better. The new procedures of learning are interesting and fun. A child will be keen to learn about mammals if the learning includes web slides, videos or pictures of his favorite mammals. They can learn at their own pace without their teachers rushing them. Teachers have advantages too. They can improve their teaching techniques and record keeping of assignments and files becomes easy. The flexibility of both the student and the teacher is effectively increased. Students can learn as much as they want in their desired ways.  Students don’t need to spend hours in the library to research on topics; they can get information about any topic just with a click of their finger.

Suppose a student has failed to understand a particular topic. Most of the times, he will be shy or scared to ask his query to escape mockery of other students. But in online learning, a student can request help as many times he wants. The individualized computer instruction will not only help the student to clear his doubts but it will also increase his motivation to learn and excel in various subjects.  There are also ‘read-alongs’ or virtual narrators with every online subject material. Nowadays, many colleges do not even have teachers and students are taken care of through online classrooms. This gives a student independence and freedom to learn his subject at his own stride.
